Eckhart Tolle, Author:

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, New World Library, 2010. This shows how to connect to the indestructible essence of our Being. As Tolle wrote, it’s the “eternal, ever present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.”

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purposes, Penguin, 2008. This book discusses how attachment to the ego creates dysfunction leading to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness. It shows how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.

Melody Beattie, Author:

Codependent No More: How to Stop Controlling Others and Start Caring for Yourself, Hazelden, 1986. Recovery has begun for millions because of this straightforward guide. Through examples and exercises, you are shown how attempting to control other people can force them to lose sight of their own needs and happiness.

Dan Millman, Author:

Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives, Dan Millman, 2006. This first-person account of the author’s odyssey into the realms of light, darkness, mind, body, and spirit has become a bestseller about the universal quest for happiness.

The Laws of Spirit: A Tale of Transformation, HJ Kramer/New World Library, 2001. This book shows how what’s at the heart of every religion, culture, and moral system can lead to a deeper sense of meaning, connection, and harmony with the world. It also indicates how these principles can transform relationships, careers, finance, and health.

Louise L. Hay, Author:

You Can Heal Your Life, Hay House, 2020. This book shares ways to heal, including how Louise cured herself after being diagnosed with cancer. About how negative mental processes can cause physical illness, the author wrote: “If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed.”

John W. James and Russell Friedman, Authors:

The Grief Recovery Handbook: The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce, and Other Losses including Health, Career, and Faith, HarperPerennial, 2017. The authors use their own experiences to illustrate difficulties in recovering. They also provide exercises for writing, calling them “the keys to healing one’s grief.”

Dr. Bruce Fisher and Dr. Robert Alberti, Authors:

Rebuilding: When Your Relationship Ends, 3rd edition, Impact Publishers, 2005. A widely used approach to divorce recovery, this “rebuilding” model makes the process healthier and less traumatic for those who are divorcing or divorced—and their children.

Deepak Chopra, MD, Author:

Quantum Healing: Exploring the Frontiers of Mind/Body Medicine, revised, Bantam, 2015. This book offers a fascinating intellectual journey and an updated chronicle of hope and healing based on awareness, consciousness, and meditation. It adds the latest scientific research and Dr. Chopra’s thoughts on the body/mind connection.

Martha Beck, Author:

Finding Your Own North Star: Claiming the Life You Were Meant to Live, Harmony, 2008. Although every life is unique, major transformations have common elements. This book provides a map to guide you through every stage of change.
